Christmas 2013

Well, once again, Christmas Eve and Christmas day were epic fails when it came to picture taking. As usual, I got busy and didn't remember the camera until it was too late. Oh, well. Maybe next year I'll be better! Here's a few of the ones I did capture.

Avery hearts Santa. She was oblivious to most of what was going on, not surprisingly.

Reading Christmas stories with daddy.

Other things we did that didn't get photographed: made cookies for Santa, ate a yummy Christmas dinner, opened new pajamas, acted out the nativity (with a "real" baby Jesus!), and watched the girls run around like maniacs.

Christmas Morning

Our kids are NOT early risers on Christmas morning. Sadie promised up down and sideways that she was going to wake up early (and stay awake late to try to hear reindeer on the roof), but alas...they were both out by 9:00 and didn't make a peep until Kevin went in to wake them up at 7:30. Avery, on the other hand, was a Scrooge and decided to wake up multiple times that night. So much for a Christmas miracle for mommy.

The kids' biggest gift from Kevin and I was a big wooden swing set for the back yard. We were so excited to give it to them and see their reactions. We didn't have it built, but we put together the slide and had it leaning against the couch with a picture of the whole swing set taped to it. But we were disappointed. They went straight to the wrapped presents and barely even glanced at the slide. Nice. Even after we pointed it out and explained its significance, they were still luke-warm about the idea. It was only a couple of weeks later when Kevin actually started to build it that the idea started to click with them. Silly girls.

Among other things, they also got a basketball hoop (a medium-sized Little Tykes one), a Plasma Car, games for their InnoTab, Legos, a VTech camera that pairs with our iPod to take pictures, lots of clothes, boots, games, movies (The Croods and Epic), and...probably some other stuff I can't remember. But that's the gist of it!

Avery got a Bumbo seat (well, the knock-off, which turned out to be cuter anyways), a VTech toy she won't be able to use for a few months and some clothes and hair things. Christmas is boring when you're 2 months old. :)
